about

Unreleased material spanning 2005 to 2016. Most of these would've rotted away if I didn't do this; I didn't want to forget about them.

Hope you get a kick out of it.

Track Name: Rotten Tomatoes
so ocean's 11 was a really popular movie about a vegas casino heist
and it was like really well thought out and well executed and well written and people loved it
then they made a sequel
now steven soderbergh, who directed ocean's 11, knew that he wanted to do something different with oceans 12 that stll had the heart of the original movie
so he did kind of a parody of the old school gentlemen thief movies
think lupin the third, which was also inspired by the same films
presumably he was convinced that if he did another heist movie like ocean's 11 it would reek of sameness and lazyness
you know, "been there, seen that"?
and at its heart, i should say, the oceans movies are comedies primarily
so as you can imagine, soderbergh was completely wrong
fans of the original movie criticized the shit out of the sequel
"this doesn't have the intricacy and flashiness of the first movie" blah blah blah etc. etc. etc.
so when it came to making the third in the series, he went back to the series "roots" and did another casino heist movie
and hoooolyyyyy shit that movie is trash
it completely lacks the heart of the first movie, the intricacy, even the writing is shallower
it's a total phone-in
and after you watch it and go back to the second movie in the series
you can SEE how much better it was simply by virtue of approaching the themes of thievery in a different and more creative way
it may not have been a perfect movie
but it had heart, and that goes a long way
by the way, ocean's thirteen has a 70% on rottentomatoe-*laughter*
